Anyone care to guess which of the sacraments this team selected for Monday's competition?

Tuesday, the middle school students took a break from the competition while they went to provide community service to various agencies in Niagara Falls.

Competition Information

Each team will be challenged to bake a dozen cupcakes each day they remain in the challenge.  The cupcakes must represent that day's themes. They must also use three mystery ingredients announced that morning.  Three celebrity judges per day will rate the teams' cupcakes on based on design, creativity, use of mystery ingredients, incorporation of the themes, and of course, taste--all based on the overall Catholic Schools Week theme: Faith, Academics and Service.

Students are required to prepare the cupcake batters within 20 minutes, then, after the cakes have had time to cool, they must decorate 12 cupcakes, 4 each of the three themes, within 30 minutes.  They are then called up to the judging table to present their final products. They must be able to explain how they selected their theme, how they chose to incorporate their mystery ingredients, and any other questions asked by the panel of judges.  Judges will also sample each cupcake presented.

Each day of the contest, we'll publish the results--which team is eliminated, which team advanced, the day's themes, and mystery ingredients (and believe us when we say--they're going to have to get creative!)

Congratulations to our winning team:  8th Grade Girls.
