St.
Peter R.C. School Welcomes
Dr. Rosemary Henry, Superintendent of Schools
Catholic Diocese of Buffalo
On the surface, it seemed like an ordinary Friday school Mass at St.
Peter R.C. School. Students helped participate in the liturgy,
Father Sibby stepped off the altar to chat with the students during
the homily, and songs of praise filled the air. But amongst
the students sat a very special guest this past Friday, September
18. Dr. Rosemary Henry, Superintendent of WNY's Catholic
schools, was here to join our Mass celebration and participate in a
meet and greet reception following Mass.
It took about two seconds to see how down-to-earth and friendly
Dr. Henry is, especially when it comes to children. From sitting
with our sixth grade class during Mass, to how at ease she put the
excited, if not slightly nervous, students invited to have their
picture taken with her, it's obvious that Dr. Henry has an affinity
for working with our youth. She also put the parents and faculty
attending the reception at ease, graciously answering questions ranging from where she's lived to what
Catholic schools can do to better market themselves in today's
economy. The meet-and-greet quickly turned into an informal
roundtable at which Dr. Henry was able to provide us with some
wonderful insights on our schools strengths and opportunities
available.
A special thank you goes to our HSA for hosting the post-Mass
reception, to the middle school students who provided readers,
servers, and song for the Mass, and especially to Dr. Henry for
taking the time out of her busy schedule to join us!
