Principal’s message

Thank you to all the members of our community for your hard work, support, volunteerism, and contributions this year.  St. Peter’s is successful because of you and your dedication to our school.

This year has been full of ups and downs, but I feel that it has been a successful one.  I set three goals for our year when I began: work to provide data-driven instruction, increase safety and security, and enhance our journey with the Holy Spirit through positive relationships and community service.  I think that our staff and students have really worked this year to complete those goals.

Welcome to St Peter RC School

Each month our students take a short diagnostic test through STAR to help us better understand their reading and math skills.  The teachers have learned to take this data and the reports that STAR provides and analyze it to use it in the classroom.  Twice this year, each teacher made goals for their students to improve their basic skills and worked to achieve those.  We instituted the academic portion of STAR, called Freckle, that allows us to provide differentiated instruction to our students that matches each and every one of their skill levels.  Our teachers will continue that training at the beginning of next school year to ensure we do even better next year.

Our Safety committee has worked tirelessly to be sure that we are establishing new procedures and protocols to make our students and faculty safer, like the use of walkie-talkies and our new PA system.   We have launched many new projects, including expanding our camera system, updating some of our doors and windows, and providing safety equipment for the office and classrooms.  I do not see us slowing down anytime soon, as we still have projects ahead of us.

Our students, and by default our students’ parents, have been incredibly generous with donations this year.  I watched our students work on projects like our Catholic Schools Week blankets with positivity and vigor.  I am still so impressed with the attitude, altruism, and cooperation I see in the students each and every day.  The fact that they are this way with not just their friends, but the adults and other grade level students in our school, is a testament to the strength and thoughtfulness of our community here at St. Peter’s.

I want to let you know that I am committing myself to another year, and hopefully many more, here at St. Peter’s.  This school brings light and joy to our community and I cannot imagine being anywhere else!
